GPS is a technology that refers to a network of satellites orbiting around Earth that use precise microwave signals to pinpoint a GPS receiver's location. The proper term is actually global positioning system, but the abbreviation is what most people are familiar with. For years now, folks have been using GPS technology in their cars to navigate anywhere around the world, and the basic navigating features are almost always free to use.
